When to Double or Nothing

Going double or nothing is perhaps one of the riskiest gambling moves some one can make, especially if you only have a small amount to bet. First and foremost you should never be gambling with money that you cannot afford to lose in the first place. Betting double or nothing is the practice of betting everything you have in order to win double, or walk away with nothing. This strategy should only be used by players that are experienced in the game they are playing, and you should never try to execute this technique if you do not have the cards and the skill to back it up. Bluffing and betting double or nothing is one of the riskiest things you can do in gambling, especially if you have a terrible hand.

Betting double or nothing because you are running out of time, have nothing better to do, or simply want a rush, are not good reason to employ this strategy. Double or nothing should be used when you are almost positive that you are going to win the round. For example, if you have two aces in poker and almost all of the royal card shave already been played, then you can feel relatively safe that you are going to win that round. Never go double or nothing if it is going to put you in the negative, as this would be more akin to double or negative.

How to Stay Positive

In gambling terms, staying positive means being above the even line, and doing more than just breaking even. When you go into the negative, that is when gambling becomes financially dangerous and the fun quickly fades.

Staying positive in gambling is the best way to prevent unnecessary debt, while also generating profits playing your favorite games. The best way to stay positive is through calculated budgeting and strict gambling techniques. Methodical gamblers are the most successful, and in general any gambler that does not have a strategy will eventually lose everything they have to bet.

Before beginning any game it is best to set aside a specific amount for betting. After you’ve won some money you can then begin increasing the wagers until you are in the higher ranges. It is very important to be careful when betting in large amounts, as one wrong move could lose you thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars. Never bet more than half of what you have to play with, unless there is a very high chance that you are going to win. Skill is a huge factor in many card games that involve gambling, so don’t be afraid to go a bit overboard if you have the skills and the cards to back it up. Even so, the best gamblers lose from time to time, and preparing for loss is the best way to maximize the effects of winning.

Pocketing Winnings

Most gamblers don’t realize that they are working themselves out of their own winnings by failing to take what they win as they go. If you really want to be a successful gambler then you will need to learn how to deal with your winnings as you earn them, instead of calculating your losses at the end of the night. This requires concentration and memory, as you’ll need to remember what your total amount of winnings are at all times, as well as keeping track of your original bankroll. Pocketing winning is by no means a new strategy. In fact, it is one of the oldest and most reliable gambling strategies in existence. Contrary to popular belief, pocketing winnings does not involve sticking chips in your pocket at a casino table, as this would inevitably be against casino rules. Instead, it is simply a counting strategy that allows you to keep better control of your finances during a night at the casino.

The strategy is simple, as it only requires you to keep track of two numbers – the amount you have won and the amount you have to spend. Every time you win a round and earn some chips, immediately calculate the amount you’ve won and add it to your pocketed winnings. When you lose a round . calculate how much you have lost and then subtract that from your total bank roll. After a few rounds or games, if you have won a substantial amount then you can take half of your pocketed winnings and add them to the existing bankroll, or if it has been exhausted, simply create a new bank roll. It is important to never exceed more than half of your pocketed winnings when creating a new bankroll, and always set a limit as to how much of your pocketed winnings you can afford to contribute to the bankroll for betting.

The downfall of every gambler is greed and inconsistency, usually expressed through excessive betting and poor decisions.
